I’ve recently learned that while dreads and locs may look similar, they hold different meanings and cultural backgrounds. Locs are typically formed intentionally and symbolize pride, history, and spirituality for many, particularly in African cultures. Dreads, however, are often associated with a more freeform style and can carry different connotations depending on the person or community.
